Ben Christensen, otherwise known as Dangerbean55, has risen to astounding notoriety in the English-speaking social media-sphere with the hilarious (and often thought-provoking) videos. With nearly 800K followers on TikTok and over 500K followers on Instagram, his unique style of comedy has found an interesting niche in the hearts of the people who enjoy his videos, myself included! I met Ben in my college days through mutual friends, despite the fact that we went to different schools. I found him to be an incredibly likeable guy, and still do, and was happy when our friendship became stronger when I visited him in his native Vancouver in summer of 2020 (months after the pandemic had started, on a spirit-cleansing solo trip through the Canadian Rockies). In the winter of that same year, we collaborated on a comedic song (and a music video which to a very small population has a somewhat legendary status) called “Water Is Sh*t” about Ben’s displeasure with the unexciting flavour of life’s most important beverage.

Victor Oly, director at Grin Films and good friend of mine, was in the same program as Ben at Ryerson University in Toronto, and the two have joined forces to create a short film called “Kill Space”, funded by largely by Ben/Dangerbean’s many followers across social media. As a part of Grin Films, naturally the role of scoring the short film fell onto me, and it has been a very enjoyable experience working with these two as always. I’ve nearly finished the score, and it’s looking like it’ll be getting a release quite soon. I’m excited to share more details once it’s available for watching.
